Maxi Gomez
Seems to be piggy-backing off the back of the Arnautovic thread, but surely deserves a thread of its own?

He obviously would prefer to stay in Spain, but money may well talk. Fingers crossed.

Re: Maxi Gomez
More importantly, why didn’t we sign him for £3 mill, that transfer fee only buys you a club canteen lady in todays money

Good tweet by ALEX V today pointing out that we spent years with this bloke as our number one target only for his career to dwindle to the point where he just got transferred for £3 million

I'd suggest this thread should be rocketed to the moon. Never to return. Feels like 50 years already.

Celta get 2 players from Valencia in exchange for some money plus a sell on clause.

Re: Maxi Gomez
As I mentioned very early on in this thread...

Celta and Valencia have a long history of doing business together. Loans, exchanges and signings in both directions.

I'm not surprised or disappointed about it

Alfs,

I was thinking about if interest is paid. I have a feeling, though, most ransfers are fixed rates of repayment.

All guess work, of course.

OTB release clauses in spain need to be paid in one hit...

Re: Maxi Gomez
SUM A DING WONG - It all depends on whether interest is accrued or not. If interest-free over say, five years, it's a no brainer but I'm sure it's not as cut and dry as that.

I'd spend the 18k in one go, just so i could tell people what a rich cunt I am.

That's not the right answer though, is it.

Re: Maxi Gomez
Wong, if you needed a new car, would you rather pay £18k upfront or £500 a month spread over 3 years?

A similar thing is going on right now with Griezmann's move from from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona. Barca wanted to pay in installments, Atletico said no, so they have to pay the full buyout fee in one go.

Boycie,

Brady is too busy getting her baps out, for M'Bappe as we type.

Re: Maxi Gomez
Apologies if Iam being fucking stupid here and asking a silly obvious question - but, i have to ask though.

Is it better from a financial point of view to pay in instalments or pay all in one go.

Or does it not matter either way?

I'm assuming it's better to pay in, installments?

Re: Maxi Gomez
Worth reading both pages of this, then talk about what it is and isn't. The BUY-OUT clause is something that doesn't exist over here and is completely different from the release clauses that we're used to. It also suggests why Celta demanded it was done by the book and why West Ham thought maybe it wouldn't be.

Why didn't they send the irresistible saucepot Baroness Brady (of the Apprentice fame) to do the deal? they would have been falling over themselves to please her...oh behave!

Re: Maxi Gomez
Our owners are massive cunts for sure, but I'm not sure they can be given too much grief over this. No one pays that sort of money up front for a player (well, City might but having your own oil wells does somewhat change things). He wants to stay in dagoland, so be it.

At worst you could say they should have sounded him out in advance, but in this day and age that might not have made a load of difference. Early doors yet. One decent MF with some running in him, a decent striker and someone to back him up and we could be looking at a really good season.

Do we KNOW it has to be paid in full? I don't get why it would be a League rule that it'd have to be paid up front. A release clause is Celta's contract, they could accept payment in bananas if they wanted. I think someone has got confused with the fact that the player has to lodge his fee with the League. I've not seen this anywhere official, just one of the Facebook people running with it because it suits his criticism of the Club.

Why the fuck would they bother if they knew their method of payment couldn't be accepted? I don't care what anyone thinks of them - they're just not going to waste their time. Sounds like guesswork bullshit to me.
